Responsibilities

The role focuses on working closely with partners and leaders in Canada and around the globe to:

  • Devise and deliver on a Canada business development plan focusing on global key clients;
  • Lead and guide in the delivery of the plan to meet Canada-wide growth objectives;
  • Develop key client growth plans for Canada (often in the context of a global relationship);
  • Support the execution of business development strategies and techniques to identify, generate and pursue growth opportunities with the afore mentioned key clients;
  • Support the delivery of bids, tenders, proposals and pitches to key clients;

You will line manage other Marketing & BD team members in Canada to deliver general marketing and business development activities, including events, client account management, brand and profile raising, including supporting the reporting requirements of the business.

  • Help develop and proactively drive and deliver the Business Development & Marketing plan for your location(s), bringing ideas and suggestions to the table and driving BD conversations in your location(s).

  • Attaining buy-in and ongoing engagement from Location stakeholders to ensure a culture of proactive and collaborative BD prevails.

  • Drive engagement in the business communities in which we work, identifying areas of opportunity and maximizing investment in any Location specific memberships.

·

  • Account management of selected priority client accounts, developing account plans with focused objectives and activity, and guiding the service delivery teams to achieve growth objectives.

  • Work with the Comms team to ensure an effective PR & Comms strategy is in place for your Location(s) to ensure positive messaging to maximise brand awareness in the market.

  • Drive participation in Location social media strategy to ensure visibility in the market.

  • Proactively guide and support the DWF Link (early careers) network in your Locations, ensuring ongoing activity against objectives and engagement of key location clients.

·

  • Proactive management and delivery of events/digital events strategy to ensure quality output that reflects the DWF brand, meets client needs and generates opportunities for the business. Some before and after-hours work required to support event activities.

  • Support the delivery of our global strategy locally by working proactively with the wider Marketing & BD team to ensure marcomms activity is properly planned and aligned to team/client/sector/location priorities, and that best practice is shared and adhered to.

  • Manage the Business Development budgets for your Location(s) to support the Business Development Plan and key objectives.

  • Be alert to local market activity and identify opportunities for engagement and identify relevant networking events for staff to participate in to raise profile.

  • Regular attendance at, and participation in, various team and Location meetings via Teams or in person as appropriate. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by this varied role.




What will help you succeed in this role?

Essential:

  • 7 years general business development and/or marketing experience in a B2B environment.
  • Experience of working in professional services is highly desirable
  • Articulate and confident with strong business acumen.·
  • Able to work to own initiative and multi-task.·
  • Knowledge of the local market and business community.·
  • Flexibility to ensure delivery against (sometimes very tight) timescales.·
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at any time.·
  • Previous experience of organising events (virtual and in-person).·
  • Ability to travel within Canada to other offices as needed.·
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and formatting skills especially Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Desirable:

·

  • French language is highly desirable.·
  • Knowledge of the legal sector and the market in Canada in particular.·
  • Experience of using Microsoft Teams and Teams Webinar and/or GoToWebinar·
  • Ability to travel occasionally more widely to e.g. London to participate in meetings.·
  • Degree educated or significant track-record in this arena.
