What You'll Do:

  • Build software prototypes and conduct experiments to evaluate alternative architectures.
  • Gain an understanding of Tim Horton's businesses and collaborate with leaders to contribute to cohesive, end-to-end experiences for the organization.
  • Promote collaboration across teams for code reuse and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay educated on existing and state-of-the-art technologies and build with peers to evaluate technology fit.
  • Protect and evolve the technical vision in alignment with the business value it creates.
  • Review all Architecture Decision Records (ADR) and provide feedback
  • Actively participate in one or multiple guilds
  • Define the technical roadmap for your domain
  • Help engineers grow by reviewing their PRs, providing mentorship, and holding dedicated technical 1:1s to check their work.
  • Have a voice in all technical decisions for the team
  • Set the technical expectations for the team
  • Correctly negotiate between product and engineering
  • Break down technical requirements for the team.
  • Play a vital role in all technical decisions for the team.
  • Act as a Scrum Master, facilitating Agile ceremonies and promoting Agile values among the team.

  • You have experience with and embrace remote work, demonstrating excellent communication, firm discipline, and a commitment to fostering shared culture across distributed teams.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of engineering experience working on real-life, consumer-facing products and services
  • 5+ years of professional experience with React, TypeScript, Node.js and React Native or equivalent. Experience establishing SDLC best practices from getting requirements done to ensuring the quality process
  • Experience driving excellence and best rules, standards, guidelines, documentation, training, and code quality
  • Experience with profiling and performance tuning of sizeable high-availability applications
  • Experience with AWS Ecosystem and especially, lambda architecture
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team of engineers, including delegation of tasks, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Experience acting as a Scrum Master, guiding teams in effectively implementing Agile principles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality, complex systems on time.
  • Experience in designing and developing APIs, understanding principles of microservices, and knowledge of cloud-based app development.
