General Manager

The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation including: budgeting, financial management and weekly analysis, implementation and ongoing success of retail and marketing programs, catering services, and branded concepts. The General Manager must be prepared to work weekdays and sometimes evenings and weekends

Now, if you were to come on board as one of our General Managers, we'd ask you to do the following for us:

  • Overseeing the operation of the entire food service program of the unit and Manage client relations
  • Ensures customers receive exceptional service at all times, including prompt responses to any questions or concerns.
  • Menu planning and merchandising
  • Ensure compliance with strict quality assurance, health, safety and environmental programs and report potentially unsafe conditions immediately. Conducts monthly HSQA audits
  • Responsible for all aspects of the operations, including staffing, training, scheduling, disciplinary action, and HSQA policies
  • Responsible for the dining experience of the Students, Staff and faculty of the campus. Measures the success and works with the team to improve the dining experience.
  • Expected to be available during service; they should be visiting the service area at all peak periods
  • Ensuring our allergy program is strictly being followed. Meeting with students that have any allergy or dietary restrictions
  • Participates in Quarterly and Annual Business reviews with all stakeholders'; takes minutes and sends to all attendees within 48 hours of meeting.
  • Understands the financial budget and meets or exceeds it.

Job Summary

Think you have what it takes to be one of our General Managers? We're committed to hiring the best talent for the role. Here's how we'll know you'll be successful in the role

  • Post-secondary education with at least 5 years of foodservice or related management experience in an equivalent, branded retail food service environment; multi-unit management experience is a must.
  • Advanced Food Service Training (AFST) plus Level 1 and 2 Health and Safety Certification training (or willing to complete within 90 days of hire).
  • Strong experience dealing with labour relations issues.
  • Proven financial management skills, including ability to control product and labour costs on a weekly basis.
  • Strong catering experience, including demonstrated experience hosting large events.
  • Experience working with branded concepts i.e. Tim Hortons, etc.
  • Strong management and organizational skills, capable of motivating, leading and developing associates.
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of any POS System is an asset
